A letter from Darren Janzig regarding 2020 Regionals
From all of us at Trophy Lakes III in Center City and Minnesota, we are excited to announce that we are finally able to commit to the 2020 Midwest Regional Championships and that it is a go. There has been so much uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic regarding our ability to comply with the Minnesota State Guidelines for social distancing, size of gathering, etc. and whether we can safely host a tournament of this size.
On Friday, our Governor announced we’ll move into the next recovery phase for reopening the state on June 10th. This phase allows for indoor gatherings of up to 10, outdoor gatherings of up to 25, and outdoor events with gatherings of up to 250 with 6’ social distancing. We can make it work under these guidelines and are still hopeful the restrictions will continue to be reduced before it’s tournament time.
Find the current Minnesota State guidelines at:

A detailed social distancing plan is being prepared to comply with MN State, USA-WSWS, and LOC guidelines and will be available in the next week on the awsamidwest.org website under 2020 Regionals tab. This will be subject to change as guidelines change.
Though the Regional’s will likely be a change from usual, we’re looking forward to having the same level of competition, the same level of fun, and the same level of comradery. Onsite camping will still be allowed between the lakes as well as additional locations for those requesting increased separation. The Banquet as we have known it is still in question and we will be working in the next weeks to determine what it might be. Updates will be posted to the Region website as they become available.
The uncertainty of this year’s ski season has made planning challenging but fortunately, we are at a point where we can make it happen. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again after this long winter and separation. We all hope you can make it.
Thanks,
Darren
2020 Regional Tournament Director
